International Relations and U.S. Foreign Policy Scholar at Georgetown University

Szarejko completed his PhD in Government at Georgetown University, where his research focused on international relations and U.S. foreign policy with particular emphasis on U.S.-American Indian relations. After earning his BA in political science and international studies from the University of Miami, he gained experience at DC think tanks including the Bipartisan Policy Center and the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism. His dissertation, "The Frontiers of American Grand Strategy: Settlers, Elites, and the Standing Army in America's Indian Wars, 1783-1890," examined historical U.S. grand strategy through case studies of the Northwest Indian War, Second Seminole War, and Utah's Black Hawk War. His research contributions include publications on civil-military relations, pedagogical practices in international relations, and the role of historical analysis in IR scholarship. Currently serving at Wartburg College, he continues to advance scholarship in international relations, U.S. foreign policy, and Indigenous politics while maintaining an active publishing record in leading academic journals
