Dr. Andrés Páez serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and researcher at the Center for Research and Formation in AI (CinfonIA) at the University of the Andes. Since 2002, he has directed the Research Group on Logic, Epistemology and Philosophy of Science (Philogica) and coordinates the Latin American Network of Legal Epistemology. His research focuses on two main areas: legal epistemology and philosophy of artificial intelligence. In legal epistemology, his work examines the epistemological challenges of testimonial, expert, and reputational evidence, as well as standards of proof and the effects of cognitive biases on judicial decisions. In AI philosophy, he studies human-AI interaction, particularly factors that enhance understanding of AI systems and build trust in their decisions. Through his Coursera course "Filosofía de la Inteligencia Artificial," he helps students understand the philosophical implications and challenges of AI development. His teaching combines theoretical frameworks with practical applications, focusing on making complex philosophical concepts accessible to students while maintaining academic rigor.
