Dr. Andrea Junguito serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Literature at the University of the Andes, where she has been a tenured faculty member since 2004. After earning her Ph.D. in Spanish and Latin American Literature from Duke University, she has focused her research on the intersections between literature, economics, and geography. Her expertise spans multiple areas including 19th and 20th-century Latin American literature, contemporary North American literature, travel literature, literary theory, and cultural and postcolonial studies. Through her Coursera courses, she shares her knowledge of Latin American literature and cultural analysis, emphasizing inter-artistic relations and the complex connections between literary works and their socio-economic contexts. Her interdisciplinary approach combines traditional literary analysis with insights from economics and geography, offering students a comprehensive understanding of literary works within their broader cultural and social contexts.
