André-Louis Rey holds a Master's degree in Teaching and Research from the University of Geneva, where he initially studied ancient Greek, the history of Antiquity, and the history of religions. He furthered his studies on late Antiquity and the Byzantine world, obtaining a Master of Letters (M.Litt.) from the University of Oxford. Rey completed an assistantship in ancient Greek and earned his doctorate at the University of Geneva, which included a year at ENS-EPHE in Paris. His doctoral thesis focused on a critical annotated edition of Christian Homeric centons—texts composed of Homeric verses that paraphrase the Gospels to convey the history of the Incarnation and salvation—published in the Sources Chrétiennes series. He has served as an assistant professor and lecturer at the University of Geneva, teaching literature and Byzantine civilization. His research interests include Byzantine literature and the transmission of ancient texts, currently working on two collaborative projects: the edition and transmission of medical texts, including Galen's treatises, and the edition and translation of the journal of the humanist Isaac Casaubon. Additionally, he is involved in cataloguing Greek manuscripts at the Geneva Library and coordinates a Swiss National Fund research project on ancient monasticism in Georgia. Rey was also a founding member of the Swiss Association of Byzantine Studies and contributed to the exhibition "Byzantium in Switzerland" at the Rath Museum (2015-2016) and its accompanying catalogue.
