Educational Innovator Bridging Chemistry and Social Justice

Massachusetts Institute of TechnologyAlyssa Napier serves as Course Developer at MIT's Teaching Systems Lab and Scheller Teacher Education Program, where she combines her technical background with social advocacy. After graduating from MIT with a BS in Chemistry and linguistics minor, she has dedicated herself to improving educational experiences and community inclusion. During her undergraduate years, she worked extensively with MIT's Institute Community and Equity Office to strengthen awareness of racial issues and helped organize initiatives like "Ask a Black Person" through the Black Students Union. Her work includes developing several MOOCs for educators, including "Design Thinking for Leading and Learning," while also researching participant engagement in politically-charged online courses. Through her role in organizing EdcampCambridge and developing educational programming, she continues to advance both digital learning innovation and social equity in education, driven by her commitment to making educational opportunities more accessible and inclusive.
