A Vision Science Expert Advancing Geriatric Care and Rehabilitation
Dr. Allen Cheong serves as a Professor at the School of Optometry at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she leads the Vision Rehabilitation Clinic. Since joining the institution in 2008, she has established herself as a leading expert in geriatric optometry and low vision rehabilitation. Her innovative contributions include the development of "SEE – Study Eyes Easy!" an e-learning software featuring interactive and stereoscopic 3D teaching materials for ocular anatomy. Her research focuses on improving the lives of visually-impaired patients through psychophysical, behavioral, and clinical studies of aging and low vision. As the leader of the Vision Rehabilitation Clinic, she works to develop cost-effective rehabilitation models and interventions that enhance patients' quality of life and daily functioning. Her expertise extends to teaching ocular anatomy and clinical optometry, where she has implemented innovative teaching methods to improve student learning outcomes. Beyond her academic work, she maintains active involvement in clinical practice, particularly focusing on geriatric care and vision rehabilitation services.
