SDG AcademyDr. Alessio Cavicchi currently serves as Full Professor of Agribusiness, Rural Development and Branding at the University of Pisa's Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment. His academic journey includes a PhD in Economics of Food and Environmental Resources from the University of Naples "Parthenope" and an MSc in Food Economics and Marketing from the University of Reading. From 2006 to 2021, he progressed from Researcher to Full Professor at the University of Macerata's Department of Education, Cultural Heritage and Tourism, where he developed two Double Degree programs in Tourism with Spain and Ukraine. His expertise spans rural development, sustainable food systems, and tourism innovation, serving as scientific coordinator for the MOOC "Sustainable Food Systems: A Mediterranean Perspective" which has reached over 8,000 students worldwide. As an advisor to organizations including the European Commission, United Nations World Tourism Organisation, and Italian ministries, he has shaped policy in food systems, rural development, and sustainable tourism. His scholarly influence extends through his roles as co-editor of "Consumer Science and Strategic Marketing" book series, Managing Editor of the International Food and Agribusiness Management Review, and his coordination of major Erasmus+ projects including The Wine Lab, FoodBiz, and ON-IT.
