Adam White is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing Sciences at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Science, and a Senior Research Scientist at DeepMind. His research focuses on the challenge of Artificial Intelligence, particularly in replicating or simulating human-level intelligence in both physical and simulated agents. He models this problem as a reinforcement learning agent interacting with an unknown environment, learning from scalar reward signals rather than explicit feedback. Adam has taught courses on Reinforcement Learning and Artificial Intelligence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at the University of Alberta and Indiana University. Outside of his academic pursuits, he enjoys playing Gaelic Football and exploring the natural world.
