Online B.A. Degree - UGC-Entitled, NAAC A+ - VGU

The Online Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Online VGU is a UGC-entitled, NAAC A+ accredited 3-year undergraduate degree built around a distinctive combination-of-three-subjects model. Rather than committing to a single major, learners select any three disciplines from a pool of eight, including Economics, Political Science, Public Policy and Development, International Relations, English Literature, History, Computer Applications, and Psychology, and study them together across six semesters. This flexibility lets learners build a personalised academic path suited to emerging careers in research, policy, content, governance, and analysis.\n\nAlongside the chosen subject combination, every learner completes a shared foundation of core courses spanning language and communication, office productivity tools, entrepreneurship, applied mathematics, computer applications, environmental science, and value education. Delivery is fully online through AI-powered audio-visual lectures, personalised learning paths, and smart assessment tools, supported by round-the-clock learner assistance.\n\nGraduates gain strengthened research, communication, and analytical skills, along with exposure to industry-based micro-credentials and monthly industry sessions designed to keep them corporate-ready. The programme also includes 360-degree career assistance covering resume reviews and professional profile makeovers, positioning learners for roles such as economic analyst, public policy associate, research assistant, and development programme officer.

Overview

Online VGU's Bachelor of Arts programme is a UGC-entitled, NAAC A+ accredited undergraduate degree delivered entirely online over three years across six semesters. Its defining feature is the subject-combination model: instead of a fixed major, learners choose any three subjects from a curated pool of eight disciplines spanning the humanities, social sciences, and applied computing, and study all three in parallel through every semester of the programme.

This structure gives learners the freedom to design an academic profile that matches their interests and career goals. Five suggested combinations are offered as starting points: Economics with Public Policy and Computer Applications; Public Policy with English; English, History, and Political Science; Computer Applications with Public Policy or International Relations; and Political Science with International Relations and Public Policy. These map to career directions such as economic analyst, public policy associate, data and research assistant, ESG analyst, development programme officer, and policy-tech specialist, though the final choice of three subjects always rests with the learner.

The curriculum blends discipline-specific electives with a shared general-education core that builds communication, digital, mathematical, and value-based competencies common to every graduate. Learning happens through AI-powered audio-visual lectures, personalised learning paths, and smart assessment tools, all accessible on the go and backed by round-the-clock learner support, making the degree practical for learners balancing study with other responsibilities.

Why BA (Bachelor of Arts)?

This programme stands out for genuine academic flexibility rarely available in a single undergraduate degree. Learners are not locked into one discipline; they can combine three subjects from a pool of eight, ranging from Economics and Political Science to Computer Applications and Psychology, and tailor their study plan toward the career direction that interests them most.

Being fully online, the degree removes the geographic and scheduling barriers of a traditional campus programme while retaining recognised UGC entitlement and NAAC A+ accreditation. The format suits working learners, those managing family responsibilities, and anyone who needs a self-directed pace without compromising on academic rigour.

Beyond the classroom, the programme layers in practical value: industry-based micro-credentials developed with sector partners, monthly sessions designed to build corporate readiness, and a 360-degree career assistance system covering guidance from industry experts, resume reviews, and professional profile makeovers. Together, these elements are built to turn a flexible academic foundation into a genuinely employable skill set across content, research, policy, and analytics roles that increasingly value interdisciplinary thinking.

Who is the programme for?

Admission to the Online B.A. programme is open to candidates who have completed their 12th standard or an equivalent qualification in any stream, from a recognised board, council, or university. No entrance examination is required, making the pathway accessible to a wide range of school leavers.

Once admitted, learners select any three subjects from the available pool of eight disciplines to form their unique combination for the full duration of the programme. This combination is studied alongside a shared core curriculum every semester, ensuring all graduates build common competencies in communication, digital tools, and applied reasoning regardless of their chosen electives.

Academically, the programme is structured across six semesters over three years, with each semester carrying a defined credit load. Assessment combines smart digital assessment tools with structured evaluation at the semester level, and learners progress through increasingly advanced elective content within each of their three chosen disciplines as they move through the programme.

Curriculum

The B.A. curriculum is organised across six semesters and combines a shared general-education core with discipline-specific electives drawn from the learner's chosen three subjects. The shared core introduces foundational skills in communication, digital productivity, entrepreneurial thinking, applied mathematics, computer applications, environmental awareness, and value education, ensuring every graduate develops a common baseline of competencies.\n\nLayered on top of this core, each semester includes elective papers from the three disciplines a learner has chosen, such as Economics, Political Science, Public Policy and Development, International Relations, English Literature, History, Computer Applications, or Psychology. Each discipline follows its own progressive sequence, moving from foundational theory in the early semesters toward more specialised and applied topics by the final semester.\n\nThis design allows the curriculum to stay consistent in its core skill-building while remaining highly personalised in its subject content, since no two learners necessarily study the same combination of electives across their three years.

There are 6 semesters in this course

Across the six semesters, learners work through a consistent structure of core papers and elective papers tied to their chosen three subjects. The early semesters establish communication and digital foundations through papers in English and office productivity tools, while later semesters introduce entrepreneurship, applied mathematics, computer applications, environmental science, and value education as shared components every learner completes regardless of elective choice.\n\nRunning in parallel, each semester carries three elective papers, one drawn from each of the learner's chosen disciplines. For example, a learner combining Economics, Political Science, and Computer Applications would progress from Microeconomics, Political Theory, and Fundamentals of C in the first semester through to Statistical Techniques, the Constitution of India, and a Programming Lab by the sixth. Other discipline tracks, including Public Policy and Development, International Relations, English Literature, History, and Psychology, follow an equivalent six-semester progression of their own, allowing each subject combination to build depth consistently over the full programme.

Programme Length

3 years, structured as 6 semesters of approximately 6 months each. The fully online format allows learners to study at a self-directed pace within each semester's curriculum.

Tuition Fee

Tuition for the programme is charged on a per-semester basis, with the total programme fee payable across six semesters. Learners can choose between a standard semester-wise payment plan, an annual plan that carries a concession for paying a full year upfront, or a one-time plan covering the entire programme at the highest available concession.

In addition to tuition, a separate examination fee applies each semester, charged at a different rate for domestic and international learners. A nominal registration fee is also collected at the time of application, ahead of the academic fee payment.

Because the programme follows UGC norms for online degrees, the overall cost structure remains considerably lower than a comparable on-campus undergraduate programme, while still offering multiple payment plan options so learners can choose the cadence that best fits their financial situation.

Learning Experience

Learning on the programme is built around AI-powered audio-visual lectures designed for on-the-go consumption, paired with personalised learning paths that adapt to each learner's pace and chosen subject combination. Smart assessment tools provide ongoing feedback, while a collaborative online environment connects learners with peers across their elective disciplines.

Because every learner follows a distinct combination of three subjects, the platform is designed to manage parallel content tracks smoothly, presenting core and elective material in a coherent sequence each semester. Round-the-clock support and resources are available throughout, so learners can resolve queries or revisit material whenever it suits their schedule.

The overall experience emphasises flexibility and accessibility without diluting academic structure, allowing learners to engage deeply with their chosen disciplines while managing study alongside work, family, or other commitments.

University Experience

As an online learner, the university experience centres on a digital-first ecosystem rather than a physical campus. Learners access their entire academic journey, lectures, assessments, and learner support, through the institution's online learning environment, with continuous access to resources regardless of location.

Beyond academics, the university extends a global learner community, with the programme citing engagement from learners across multiple continents. This is supplemented by career-oriented touchpoints such as monthly industry sessions, guidance from industry experts, and industry-aligned micro-credentials developed in collaboration with external partners.

While there is no physical campus component to this programme, learners do gain access to 360-degree career assistance, including resume reviews and professional profile makeovers, designed to extend the university experience into tangible employability support alongside the academic curriculum.
