Who is the programme for?

Admission to the IIT Delhi Executive Programme in Generative AI and NextGen Digital Engineering requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Selection is based on an application review process, with no minimum work experience mandated. Shortlisted candidates may be required to appear for an interview as part of the evaluation. An application fee of Rs 1,000 is charged for processing selected applications post confirmation from the institute; this fee is not part of the total programme fee. An offer letter from CEP, IIT Delhi is released upon successful receipt of the registration fee. The programme follows an MCQ-based end-of-programme exam (60%), assignments and project work (30%), and attendance (10%). Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% overall and maintain at least 50% attendance to receive the Certificate of Completion. Those scoring below 50% but meeting the attendance requirement receive a Certificate of Participation.

The programme curriculum is structured across six core modules designed to build expertise from foundational AI and ML concepts to advanced generative design and Industry 4.0 integration. The first module introduces machine learning paradigms including supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement, and deep learning, alongside basics of Design for Manufacturability and an introduction to generative AI in design. The second module covers digital engineering fundamentals, process lifecycle optimisation, and key software tools. The third module addresses design methods including design thinking, AI-enhanced UX, human-centric design, nature-inspired design, and biologically inspired structures. The fourth module dives into generative AI applications in design, covering structural, flow, and thermal simulations alongside AI-optimised design workflows. The fifth module explores conventional and unconventional manufacturing processes, post-processing, characterisation, and testing. The sixth and final module examines Industry 4.0 principles and AI applications across sectors including healthcare, aerospace, automotive, energy, and industrial automation. The programme concludes with a Capstone Project.

Module 1 introduces the fundamentals of machine learning covering supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, and deep learning, along with basics of DFM/DFX and an introduction to generative AI in design. Module 2 builds a foundation in digital engineering, covering process lifecycle optimisation and software tools commonly used in product development. Module 3 explores design methods from multiple perspectives including design thinking, AI-enhanced user experience, human-centric design, nature-inspired design, and cellular or biologically inspired structures with functional applications. Module 4 applies generative AI to engineering design through structural simulation, flow and thermal simulation, and AI-optimised design workflows, supplemented with industry case studies. Module 5 addresses digital manufacturing and post-processing, covering both conventional and unconventional manufacturing methods along with characterisation and testing procedures. Module 6 explores Industry 4.0 and its intersection with AI, examining applications across industrial automation, healthcare, automobile, aerospace, and energy sectors. The programme concludes with a Capstone Project where participants work on industry-relevant problems, integrating their learning into a tangible portfolio piece.

Prof. Dinesh Kalyanasundaram is a mechanical engineer by education (Bachelors: College of Engineering, Guindy; Masters: IIT Delhi; Ph.D.: Iowa State University; Post-doctoral research: University of Washington, Seattle; Biomedical consultant: L&T). His areas of interest include MedTech product design and manufacturing. Prof. Kalyanasundaram is the principal investigator of mPRAGATI, an ICMR-funded National facility for medical device translation. His research group is focused on designing medical devices, validating their performance clinically and developing associated manufacturing processes. It develops both diagnostic devices as well as implantable devices. The group also works on tissue biomechanics and developing musculoskeletal models. The major research in the group includes developing devices for manufacturing processes for MedTech products. In biomedical engineering, Prof. Kalyanasundaram works on both implantable as well as non-implantable medical devices like orthopaedic implants (Hip Replacement System, Knee Replacement System, Shoulder Replacement System, Spinal implants, Ocular implants, etc.), vascular implants (catheters, cardiovascular stents, neurovascular stents, tubing, etc.), a Hearing screening device, LAMP assay for pathogen diagnosis, Cervical cancer diagnosis, etc. These products have been developed in association with various institutes of immense prestige, like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh, KGMU (King George Medical University) Lucknow, MAMC (Maulana Azad Medical College) Delhi, etc.

She earned her Ph.D. from Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, where her research focused on the development of auxetic structures using additive manufacturing technologies. Dr. Meena's research interests encompass additive manufacturing, auxetic metamaterials, and laser material processing. She is particularly noted for her work on designing auxetic structures—materials that exhibit a negative Poisson's ratio—leveraging 3D printing techniques to create complex geometries suitable for applications in defense, healthcare, automotive, and aerospace industries. Her contributions to the field are documented in several peer-reviewed journals, including Materials & Design and the International Journal of Mechanics and Materials in Design. Beyond her research, Dr. Meena is actively involved in teaching courses related to additive manufacturing and near-net shape manufacturing at IIT Delhi. She is also exploring collaborations with defense agencies to develop advanced safety gear, such as crash helmets and bulletproof jackets, utilizing her innovative auxetic designs.

Tuition Fee

The total programme fee is Rs 1,69,000 (exclusive of GST). Fees are payable in four instalments: the first instalment of Rs 43,000 is due within 4 days of offer letter issue, followed by three instalments of Rs 42,000 each. All fees must be submitted to the IIT Delhi CEP account, and receipts are issued by the IIT Delhi CEP office. Easy EMI options are available through TimesPro. Candidates who wish to withdraw may do so within 15 days of the programme start date and are eligible for an 80% refund of fees paid, excluding applicable taxes. No refund is available for withdrawals after 15 days of commencement.

Learning Experience

The programme delivers over 150 hours of structured learning through multiple formats. Live online sessions totalling 60 hours are conducted on weekends and delivered direct-to-device, enabling professionals to attend from anywhere without disrupting their work schedules. Self-paced learning content of 60 hours supplements the live sessions, allowing participants to revisit concepts and study at their own pace. A 20-hour Capstone Project provides applied, hands-on experience working on real-world AI-driven engineering challenges. An optional 2-day campus immersion at IIT Delhi enables face-to-face interaction with faculty and fellow participants. Assessment combines an end-of-programme MCQ exam, assignments, project submissions, and attendance, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of learning outcomes.
