Who is the programme for?

The M.Tech in Generative AI & Data Science (Executive) at IIT Jammu follows a structured admission process designed to select candidates with the right technical aptitude and professional experience. Applicants must hold a 4-year BE/BTech in ECE, EE, IT, EI, CSE, or ME, or an MSc in IT/CS, with a minimum CGPI of 6.0 in their preceding degree. Candidates with 10 or more years of experience are eligible with a CGPI of 5.5. A minimum of 2 years of industry experience is mandatory.

The selection process involves submitting an online application form, clearing a pre-screening qualifying test, and appearing for a personal interview conducted by IIT Jammu faculty. The qualifying test is 100 minutes long, comprises 32 questions across 5 sections (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, Math & Statistics for AI, Programming Logic & Data Structures, AI Foundations & GenAI Literacy, and Core Python Coding), and requires a minimum of 50% overall score. Each section must be attempted, and sectional cutoffs apply. The coding section includes 2 Python problems worth 10 marks each. Successful candidates receive an offer letter upon clearing the interview.

Semester 2 focuses on Deep Learning Specialization: Pattern Recognition and Fuzzy Logic (3 credits), Natural Language Processing for Deep Learning (3 credits), Computer Vision for Deep Learning (3 credits), and Elective 1 from the elective pool (3 credits). Semester 3 is Advanced Specialization: Elective 2, Elective 3, Elective 4 from the elective pool (3 credits each), and Project/Dissertation I (9 credits). Semester 3 moves into Advanced Specialization with three electives chosen from domains like Generative AI, Agentic AI, MLOps, Data Engineering, and Emerging Tech, alongside the first phase of the capstone project. The fourth semester is entirely dedicated to a research-driven Dissertation worth 18 credits, requiring original algorithm contributions, ablation studies, benchmark comparisons, statistical validation, and production-level deployment, resulting in a comprehensive thesis of over 100 pages. Students also engage in the AI Clinic throughout the program — a hands-on environment where they work on real enterprise AI projects from ideation to deployment using tools like PyTorch, Hugging Face, LlamaIndex, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.

Tuition Fee

The total program fee is ₹4,49,000 (inclusive of GST-exempt components). Year 1 tuition is ₹2,99,000 and Year 2 tuition is ₹1,50,000, with an additional ₹18,000 examination fee. A non-refundable registration fee of ₹10,000 is included in the total program fees. All tuition payments are made directly to IIT Jammu. The registration fee (paid to Futurense Technologies for application processing) is refunded if the application is not accepted. If a student withdraws within 30 days of the batch start date, ₹1,49,500 (equivalent to the first semester fee) is deducted. If withdrawal is after 30 days, ₹2,99,000 + ₹18,000 is non-refundable. Boarding and lodging during campus immersions are borne by students separately. All refunds exclude the registration fee, GST (18%), and any applicable subvention amount. Futurense partners with financial institutions to offer loan assistance with EMI options for eligible candidates.
