Who is the programme for?

The programme utilizes a proven pedagogy developed by IIM-I faculty and refined through industry programmes over two decades. The admission process is selective, with applicants evaluated based on their overall profile and eligibility criteria. Some candidates may be interviewed by Programme Directors if necessary. Participants must maintain a minimum overall attendance to complete the programme. The curriculum is delivered through interactive online sessions complemented by a campus module at IIM Indore.

Curriculum

The M.Tech. Manufacturing Management curriculum spans four semesters with a total of 12 courses plus a dissertation. The programme features a balanced mix of core courses and electives tailored to individual learning preferences. Core courses include Manufacturing Planning & Control, Total Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, and Product Design. Students can choose from diverse electives such as Precision Engineering, Additive Manufacturing, IoT in Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing, Strategic Management, and more. The final semester includes a dissertation where students apply concepts learned throughout the programme to real-world manufacturing challenges.

S. Raghuraman is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, currently serving as off-campus faculty in Chennai. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University and an M.E. in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning from Bharathiar University. With over 21 years of industrial experience, he has worked in R&D and product development roles at leading companies, including National Factory for Air Conditioners in Saudi Arabia, Blue Star Limited, and Awal Gulf Manufacturing in Bahrain. Since 2015, he has been part of BITS Pilani, contributing to academia with seven years of teaching experience. His expertise spans Autotronics, Advanced Engineering Mathematics, and IC Engine advancements, alongside conducting certification programs on fans, pumps, and HVAC systems.

Associate Professor & Associate Dean, WILP,Expert in Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Engineering Education

Prof. Venkataraman is an Associate Professor with Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) at BITS Pilani, bringing 25 years of industry experience in manufacturing, supply chain, and strategy within the light engineering and automotive sectors. He has led greenfield projects, company-wide quality initiatives, and new product developments. A proud alumnus of BITS Pilani, he earned his BS and MS in Engineering through WILP and is currently a Ph.D. scholar at BITS Pilani-Hyderabad, focusing on Engineering Education Research. As Associate Dean, he heads the Engineering group and leads WILP’s digital learning initiatives. His teaching expertise spans manufacturing, decision analysis, and precision engineering.

The curriculum includes a two-day intensive bootcamp on contemporary topics such as Design Thinking and Digital Manufacturing. Assessment is continuous through assignments, quizzes, mid-semester exams, and comprehensive exams. The final semester dissertation allows students to apply concepts to real-world manufacturing challenges.
