Bennett A. Shaywitz, M.D., is the Charles and Helen Schwab Professor in Dyslexia and Learning Development at Yale and Co-Founder/Co-Director of the Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity. A physician-scientist, he combines child neurology and neuroscience to advance dyslexia research and care. His work uses fMRI to explore the neurobiology of dyslexia, uncovering neural signatures and disruptions in brain connectivity. Recent research includes studies on the early reading achievement gap, vocabulary development in dyslexic children, and the impact of dyslexia in adulthood. Dr. Shaywitz has published over 350 papers and received numerous honors, including membership in the National Academy of Medicine and several distinguished awards. He earned his B.A. and M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his pediatric and child neurology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Sally E. Shaywitz is a prominent physician-scientist and the Audrey G. Ratner Professor in Learning Development at Yale University, where she focuses on advancing the science of dyslexia. Her research combines cutting-edge studies with clinical care for children and adults with dyslexia, contributing significantly to the understanding of this learning disability. Dr. Shaywitz's ongoing neurobiological and longitudinal epidemiological studies track a population-based cohort from kindergarten through adulthood, providing insights into the prevalence, gender composition, and long-term outcomes of dyslexia, which affects approximately one in five individuals.Dr. Shaywitz has developed the Shaywitz DyslexiaScreen™, a tool designed for teachers to efficiently screen young children for dyslexia, released in October 2016.
