His work uses fMRI to explore the neurobiology of dyslexia, uncovering neural signatures and disruptions in brain connectivity. Recent research includes studies on the early reading achievement gap, vocabulary development in dyslexic children, and the impact of dyslexia in adulthood. Dr. Shaywitz has published over 350 papers and received numerous honors, including membership in the National Academy of Medicine and several distinguished awards. He earned his B.A. and M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his pediatric and child neurology training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
