Matthew Bengtson is an acclaimed pianist and Assistant Professor of Music specializing in Piano Literature at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Recognized as a "musician's pianist," he has a diverse repertoire that spans from early composers like William Byrd to contemporary figures such as György Ligeti. Bengtson has performed internationally in prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and the historic centennial “Scriabin in the Himalayas” festival in India. He is particularly noted for his interpretations of Scriabin and Szymanowski, with his recordings receiving critical acclaim across various labels.In addition to his performance career, Bengtson is dedicated to education and has taught at several institutions, including Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon University.
