Associate Professor of Accountancy and Arthur Andersen Faculty Fellow
Gary Hecht is an Associate Professor of Accountancy and the Arthur Andersen Faculty Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he has been a faculty member since 2013. He previously held academic positions at Emory University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Hecht has served as the academic director of the iMSA Program and as the executive director of Lifelong Learning at Illinois. He earned his Ph.D. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois in 2005 and a B.S. in Accountancy from Illinois State University in 1995. His research interests include managerial accounting, performance measurement, and the effects of managerial discretion on team dynamics, with numerous publications in leading accounting journals. Hecht has been recognized multiple times on the List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by his students.
