Dr. Nicolai Jacob Wewer Albrechtsen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, where he specializes in gastrointestinal hormones, particularly glucagon biology. He earned his MD in 2014 and has since developed his own research group focused on the role of glucagon in dysmetabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Utilizing advanced technologies like mass-spectrometry, Dr. Wewer Albrechtsen's research aims to identify and characterize gut hormones and regulatory peptides. He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has received numerous awards for his contributions to medical research. In addition to his research, he has been teaching medical students since 2010 and has completed a year-long program at Harvard Medical School, becoming a certified member of the GCSRT.
