With nearly 20 years of experience, his work focuses on translating complex climate information for policymakers, resource managers, and business leaders. Dr. Casola has coordinated significant events such as the 2017 Northwest Climate Conference and has contributed as an author to the Fourth National Climate Assessment and the report "Unfair Share," which addresses the disproportionate risks of climate change on Washington State communities. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Chemistry from Duke University.At CU Boulder, Dr. Casola teaches courses including How Do We Manage Climate Change?, Planning with Climate Change in Mind, and What is Climate Change? His courses aim to build climate literacy among students and equip them with the knowledge to address climate-related challenges effectively. Dr. Casola's extensive background includes roles such as Deputy Director at the University of Washington's Climate Impacts Group and Senior Associate at ICF International, where he has worked on assessing and managing risks associated with climate variability and change.
