His extensive leadership experience encompasses business development, operations, and global program management in both startup and growth organizations.Dr. Thomas is passionate about fostering sustainable and resilient systems for future generations. His research interests lie at the intersection of engineering and social science, focusing on human resilience and the dynamics of complex socio-technical systems that support community well-being, such as energy, water, transportation, and cybersecurity. He co-founded the Resilience Engineering Institute, dedicated to disseminating knowledge and tools related to resilience. Dr. Thomas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, an MBA from Santa Clara University, and a Ph.D. in Civil, Environmental, and Sustainable Engineering from Arizona State University. Through his courses like "Creating a Technology Startup Company" and "Resilience & Leadership," he aims to equip students with the skills necessary to navigate challenges in technology and leadership effectively.
