Advocate for Métis Studies and Indigenous Scholarship

Dr. Paul L. Gareau is Métis, born and raised in the Batoche Homeland in Saskatchewan. He serves as an associate professor and associate dean (graduate studies) in the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta. His research and scholarship focus on Métis Studies and Religious Studies, examining themes such as religion and relationality, Indigenous onto-epistemologies, nationhood and peoplehood relations, as well as issues of race, gender, and marginalization. Dr. Gareau employs theatre-based, community-led research methodologies to explore these areas.
