Sean McGee serves as Instructor and Outreach Coordinator for the Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he has taught for over a decade. His extensive law enforcement career began in 1991 with the North Slope Borough's Department of Public Safety in Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow), Alaska, and culminated as Chief of the UAF Police Department. A UAF alumnus with a degree in Criminal Justice, McGee's expertise spans school shootings, workplace violence, and criminality. His 15-year tenure with the Alaska State Troopers' Specialized Emergency Reaction Team honed his skills in crisis response. As a personal preparedness expert, he has guided numerous individuals through comprehensive emergency readiness strategies. His recent publication, "Disaster management and Godzilla" in the Crisis Response Journal, reflects his innovative approach to emergency management education. McGee's teaching philosophy emphasizes real-world application, drawing from his extensive field experience to prepare students for the complexities of modern homeland security challenges.
