A Pioneer in Solar Energy and Clean Technology Innovation
Gay E. Canough, Ph.D. in particle physics from the University of Notre Dame, has been a leader in the solar energy field since 1993, founding Extraterrestrial Materials, Inc. (ETM Solar Works) in 1988 and installing over 3 megawatts of photovoltaic systems. Her career spans diverse renewable technologies, including small wind turbines, air-source heat pumps, and battery backups. Gay has also made significant contributions to training by running the PV Installer’s course over 250 times in NJ, PA, and NY, and achieving certification as a PV installer from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners in 2003. As a founding member of the New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA), she has played a key role in advancing the solar energy industry and training the next generation of professionals.
