Nicola De Blasi serves as Professor of Italian Linguistics at the University of Naples Federico II, where he has established himself as a leading authority on Neapolitan language and literature. His scholarly work encompasses critical editions ranging from medieval Neapolitan texts to modern theatrical works, including significant contributions to the study of Eduardo De Filippo's plays. As past president of the International Society of Italian Linguistics and Philology and former Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto, he has advanced the understanding of Italian dialectology and regional linguistics. His expertise is recognized through his position on the scientific boards of prestigious journals including "Archivio storico delle province napoletane," "Critica letteraria," and "Napoli Nobilissima." His research has been particularly significant in documenting and preserving Neapolitan linguistic heritage, demonstrating its historical importance as the dominant language in the pre-unification Kingdom of Two Sicilies and its cultural influence through art and music
