Este curso ofrece una introducción completa al campo de la neurociencia, explorando las estructuras del sistema nervioso central, la neurofisiología básica y las funciones mentales superiores. A lo largo de tres módulos, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre la composición y función de las neuronas, el proceso de neurodesarrollo, los principales neurotransmisores y receptores, así como los sistemas neuronales fundamentales. El curso también aborda el sistema límbico y su relación con las emociones, la anatomía y funciones de la corteza cerebral, y las bases neurobiológicas de funciones mentales como memoria, atención y lenguaje. Adicionalmente, se introduce a la biología molecular, genética y epigenética en relación con las enfermedades mentales.
