Distinguished Environmental Engineer and Wastewater Treatment Expert
Professor Zuo Jiane serves as Professor and Vice-President in the School of Environment at Tsinghua University, where he has established himself as a leading authority in environmental engineering and wastewater treatment. His academic journey at Tsinghua University began with his graduation from the Environmental Science and Engineering Department in 1991, followed by his Ph.D. in 1995, when he joined the faculty. His research expertise focuses on anaerobic biotechnology for organic wastewater and solid waste treatment, biogas recovery, rainwater collection, pollution control, sewer system evaluation, and pharmaceutical wastewater treatment technologies. As a dedicated educator, he leads the National Best Course in Water and Wastewater Treatment Engineering and Principles of Environment Engineering, while also teaching core courses in Production Internship In Water Treatment and Course Design Of Water Treatment. His excellence in both teaching and research has been recognized through multiple awards, including the Third Prize of Basic Teaching Skills Competition Of Beijing Youth Teachers, Special Prize of Teaching Achievement Of Tsinghua University, and various prizes in Environmental Protection Science and Technology and Beijing Science And Technology Progress. Through his role at Tsinghua University, he continues to advance the field of environmental engineering while training the next generation of environmental scientists and engineers.
