This course is part of Dento-Maxillofacial Radiology in Dental Medicine.
This comprehensive 4-week course explores anatomy and pathology in Dento-MaxilloFacial Radiology, focusing on various imaging modalities including CBCT. Participants will master the art and science of reporting findings from 2D and 3D datasets, enhancing their ability to describe pathological findings and provide clinical recommendations. The modular format is designed to improve foundational knowledge while promoting higher-order thinking skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving for dental medicine clinicians. By course completion, learners will confidently identify anatomic landmarks, make differential diagnoses, and understand CBCT applications across various dental specialties. Led by the expert team at HKU Faculty of Dentistry, this course equips participants with valuable skills in identifying anatomic structures, analyzing pathological conditions, and producing detailed radiological reports that enhance patient care and treatment planning.

Module Description
This course provides a thorough exploration of Dento-MaxilloFacial Radiology (DMFR) over four weeks. It begins with foundational concepts of dental anatomy as visualized through various imaging modalities, with special focus on Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). Participants learn to identify critical anatomical landmarks and normal variations in both 2D and 3D radiographic datasets. The course progresses to pathological findings, teaching how to recognize common conditions, formulate differential diagnoses, and understand the radiographic manifestations of dental and maxillofacial diseases. The reporting module covers the systematic approach to describing findings, using appropriate terminology, and providing clinically relevant interpretations. The final component addresses specialty applications, exploring how DMFR is utilized across endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery. Throughout the course, participants engage with real-world cases, enhancing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills under the guidance of international experts from prestigious dental institutions.
