Professor of Computer Science at HKUST Specializing in Music Synthesis
Andrew Horner is a Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, specializing in music synthesis and timbre. He coauthored the book "Cooking with Csound: Woodwind and Brass Recipes" and co-chaired the International Computer Music Conference in Hong Kong. Dr. Horner earned his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1993 and has received numerous teaching awards, including the Michael G. Gale Medal for Distinguished Teaching, the university's highest teaching honor. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and conducts yoga classes at the university.
Associate Professor and Director of Business Education at HKUST
Dr. Percy Garvin Dias is the Associate Professor of Business Education in the Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management Department (ISOM) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He also serves as the Director of the Center for Business Education. Dr. Dias has been recognized as an Expert Level Instructor by Cisco Networking Academy, placing him in the top 10% of instructors globally. His teaching excellence has earned him several accolades, including the Michael G. Gale Gold Medal for Distinguished Teaching in 2017, four Franklin Prizes for Teaching Excellence (2000-2014), and the University Teaching Innovation Award in 2004.
