Prof. Dr. Peter Biberthaler is a distinguished professor and the director of the Department of Trauma Surgery at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research primarily focuses on the care of severe and multiple trauma patients, with a significant emphasis on treating traumatic brain injuries. Additionally, he specializes in shoulder surgery, integrating his scientific research with clinical practice in traumatology. Notably, he pioneered the use of intraoperative intravital-microscopic imaging to visualize blood circulation near ruptures, enhancing surgical outcomes. After completing his medical studies at LMU Munich, he gained international experience in the USA and Brazil before undergoing surgical training under Professor Schweiberer at LMU Munich. He achieved German medical board certification in surgery in 2003 and further specialized in trauma surgery, obtaining certification in orthopedics and trauma surgery in 2007. Prof. Biberthaler has led the department at TUM since 2011, contributing significantly to advancements in trauma care and surgical techniques.
