Foundations of HTA and Value-Based Healthcare

Patrizio Armeni has established himself as an Associate Professor of Practice in Government, Health and Not for Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management, where he has been contributing since 2009. His academic journey began at the Osservatorio Farmaci (Pharmaceutical Observatory) and expanded to include broader research areas in public management, particularly focusing on the healthcare sector. As coordinator of the Health Economics & HTA research area at CERGAS, he focuses on three primary research streams: economic evaluations of healthcare technologies, policy design and implementation support, and analysis of pharmaceutical and health technology markets. His teaching portfolio is extensive, covering courses such as Public Management, Innovation and Competition in Life Sciences, Economics of Healthcare Organizations, and Pharmaceutical Policy across various academic levels. Since 2020, he has served as director of operations for the LIFT Lab, which focuses on the convergence of digital innovation and life sciences. His expertise extends to directing executive programs for pharmaceutical and medical device company employees and coordinating educational programs for healthcare professionals. He has authored numerous articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has been consistently contributing the healthcare expenditure chapter to the OASI report since 2009, establishing himself as a key voice in Italian healthcare system analysis. His work in healthcare organizations has led him to develop an educational approach emphasizing ethical leadership in practice, and he regularly participates as a speaker at international conferences and serves on advisory boards for companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, bringing valuable industry insights to his academic work.
