Senior Advisor to the CEO at the New Teacher Center
Rob Schwartz is currently the Senior Advisor to the CEO at the New Teacher Center, a prominent national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing student learning by improving the effectiveness of new teachers and school leaders. Previously, he served as the Executive Director of the Level Playing Field Institute and spent three years as Chief Academic Officer for Inner City Education Foundation Public Schools in South Los Angeles, where he significantly expanded the academic program from three schools with 500 students to 15 schools serving nearly 4,000 students. As an instructional leader, Rob played a key role in designing a rigorous curriculum aimed at preparing students for success in top colleges, achieving a 100% graduation rate with 97% of graduates accepted into four-year universities at ICEF’s flagship high school. A former Teach for America corps member, Rob was recognized as Teacher of the Year twice during his seven years in East Los Angeles. He holds a cum laude degree from Binghamton University in Biology and Classical Languages, and earned his MA in Urban Education Policy Planning and Administration and Ed.D. in Urban Educational Leadership from USC's Rossier School of Education. In 2009, he was appointed to the African American Achievement Commission by the California State Board of Education.
