Louise Koelmeyer is an experienced occupational therapist with over 30 years of clinical practice, specializing in breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema management. She graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney in 1990 and earned her PhD from Macquarie University in April 2021. As the Director of the Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment (ALERT) program at Macquarie University, she strategically manages education, research, and treatment initiatives within this multidisciplinary program. Her research focuses on early detection and management of lymphoedema, particularly through prospective surveillance models. Louise has coordinated significant studies, including the "PREVENT" randomized control trial on breast cancer-related lymphoedema, contributing to advancements in treatment strategies. She is also involved in training health professionals through accredited lymphoedema programs and workshops both locally and internationally.
