5I Methodology for Procurement Success

This module provides an overview of advanced category management concepts, including the 5I Methodology and its role in driving procurement improvement. Students will learn fundamental approaches to category management and how to use the STP (Situation, Goal, Proposal) Tool to structure procurement strategies.

This module covers the management of both global and local procurement categories, focusing on international purchasing processes and cost-value analysis. Students will learn stakeholder mapping, communications planning, and strategy development using Kraljic analysis and supplier preference models.

This module focuses on understanding cost structures that determine supplier pricing, including total acquisition costs, cost of ownership, and identifying fixed, variable, direct, and indirect costs. Students will also learn to measure value through margins and markups, and analyze external environments using PESTLE and Porter's Five Forces.

This module teaches how to demonstrate procurement success through financial benefits and risk prevention reporting. Students will learn the RAG (Red, Amber, Green) method for categorizing issues and status reports, compliance reporting on key performance indicators, and how to document value delivery and bottom-line profit impact. The module concludes with using SWOT analysis to summarize findings.

This module applies theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios through group exercises and case studies. Students will engage in category design and implementation planning, develop metrics for contract awards, and complete benefits and compliance reports, providing hands-on experience with the concepts learned throughout the course.
