In this module, you will learn about the layers of flexible and rigid pavements. Explore soil properties, subgrade considerations, and aggregate classification. Understand binders, bitumen constituents, grading systems, and the evolution of bituminous mixes. Gain insights into Marshall bituminous mix design. Discover the properties of Portland Cement, the purposes of admixtures, and the significance of DLC and PQC mix design in concrete for pavement construction.

You will gain insights into flexible pavements, their composition, and design principles, including the use of IITPAVE software. The course covers the latest guidelines like IRC: 37 – 2018 and explores the mechanistic-empirical performance design approach and provides a comprehensive understanding of material properties. Additionally, you will learn about long-life flexible pavements, their design philosophy, and advantages over conventional options.

Additionally, the module addresses various types of joints in rigid pavements and provides insights into the required input data, design steps, and essential checks at the end of the pavement design process, concluding with a practical example.
