Surveillance Systems: Analysis and Special Systems

Dr. Stefan Baral is a prominent physician epidemiologist and a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. With extensive training that includes an MD, MPH, and an MBA, he has dedicated his career to HIV epidemiology and prevention research. Dr. Baral's work focuses on the health needs of marginalized populations, particularly gay men, transgender women, and female sex workers across various regions in Africa and Asia. He has successfully led numerous studies funded by organizations such as USAID, CDC, and NIH, aiming to develop effective HIV prevention strategies tailored for key populations.In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Baral serves as the Director of the Key Populations Program at the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at Johns Hopkins.
