Distinguished Political Scientist and Expert on Existential Politics

Dr. Uriel Abulof serves as an associate professor of politics at Tel-Aviv University and visiting professor at Cornell University, where he pioneered the concept of "political existentialism" in social sciences. His research spans the politics of fear, happiness, hope, legitimation, social movements, and ethnic conflicts. A recipient of the 2016 Young Scholar Award in Israel Studies, he has authored several influential books including "The Mortality and Morality of Nations" (Cambridge University Press) and "Living on the Edge: The Existential Uncertainty of Zionism." His scholarly work includes over sixty peer-reviewed articles in leading journals and three forthcoming books examining existential conflict, humanity's midlife crisis, and the search for meaning in politics. He created the acclaimed PrincetonX online course HOPE, rated the best online course in political science and philosophy, and directs various public initiatives including the Sapienism initiative and the Double-Edged blog on Psychology Today.
