Distinguished Development Economist and Diversity Leader

Caridad Araujo serves as Chief of the Gender and Diversity Division at the Inter-American Development Bank, where she leads initiatives to improve access to quality services and economic opportunities for underrepresented groups. Her career includes serving as lead economist in IDB's Health and Social Protection Division, focusing on child development and poverty reduction programs, and teaching at Georgetown University. After earning her PhD and MA in Agricultural Economics and Natural Resources from UC Berkeley and BA in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, she has dedicated her career to advancing social inclusion and economic development. Through her leadership, she continues to strengthen the voice and representation of women, indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ community while maintaining her focus on poverty reduction and social protection programs.

Distinguished Development Policy Expert and Youth Leader

Natalie Bethel serves as Operations Associate at the Inter-American Development Bank in Nassau, Bahamas, where she manages the bank's public sector portfolio from design to evaluation, including investment loans, policy-based loans and technical cooperations. After completing her studies in International Development & History at SOAS, University of London and earning a Diploma in Strategic Public Procurement, she is currently pursuing her Master's in Public Policy & Administration at Northwestern University. Her leadership roles include serving as Youth Advisor to the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Youth Leader at the China-CELAC Forum, Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum, and UN Women Global Champion. Her recent selection for the 2025/2026 Fellows Programme of the International Women's Forum further recognizes her contributions to international development and women's empowerment.
