Ganesh N Prabhu served as a distinguished Professor of Strategy at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) from 1996 until his untimely passing in December 2024. His expertise spanned product innovation, strategic management, and entrepreneurship, earning him recognition as a leading academic in these fields. Throughout his career at IIMB, he held several key administrative positions, including Chairperson of the Post Graduate Program (2006-2008), Chairperson of Placements (2000-2003), and Chairperson of Career Development Services (2015-2019). His academic credentials included a Fellowship (PhD) in Strategy from IIM Ahmedabad, a PGDRM from Institute of Rural Management Anand, and a BSc from Elphinstone College, Mumbai. Prabhu's research contributions were significant, with publications in prestigious journals like Academy of Management Review and Research Policy. He conducted executive programs and workshops for major corporations including Honeywell, ITC, Tata Group, and Oracle, specializing in strategic analysis and new product development. His service extended beyond academia as a nominated member of the India Design Council and advisory boards of several prestigious institutions. His expertise in product innovation and strategy was particularly influential in emerging markets, where he helped numerous organizations develop locally relevant products and business models.
