Sushil Vachani served as Director of IIM Bangalore from 2014 to 2016, where he spearheaded initiatives in MOOCs, entrepreneurship, and global program development. After earning his doctorate from Harvard Business School, PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad, and BTech from IIT Kanpur, he established himself as a leading voice in strategy and international business through a 28-year career at Boston University. His leadership roles included chairing the Strategy Department and Doctoral Program while serving as Special Assistant for BU's India Initiative. Through his research on global institutional environments, corporate social responsibility, and base-of-pyramid strategy, he has influenced both academic and practical understanding of multinational enterprises and poverty reduction. His work spans consulting with Boston Consulting Group and Indian corporations like Tata, while his four books and publications in prestigious journals like Harvard Business Review address topics from climate change adaptation to global governance. As an EdTech and non-profit advisor, he continues to promote technology-enhanced education while advocating for cross-sector collaboration between government, non-profit, corporate and startup entities.
