After earning his DPhil from the University of York, he built an impressive career spanning academia, industry, and policy roles, including positions as Head of Sustainable Energy Futures at Ofgem, Head of Science for Work Group III of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London. His work at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, UK Energy Research Centre, and Royal Society of Chemistry has shaped energy policy and market transformation initiatives. His journey began as a research chemist at Sellafield's nuclear laboratory before transitioning to sustainable energy, where he now leads research on smart local energy systems through the UK Energy Revolution Research Consortium. As Deputy Chair of UK Power Networks' Customer Engagement Group and former Non-Executive Director of Public Power Solutions, he continues to influence the transformation of energy markets while maintaining his commitment to developing innovative solutions for a zero-carbon future.
