Conquering Humor Fundamentals

This introductory course builds the foundations of effective humor in the workplace, focusing particularly on virtual team environments. Taught by leading experts Naomi Bagdonas and Connor Diemand-Yauman from Stanford's Graduate School of Business, along with comedy professionals from The Onion and Funny Or Die, the course provides a fun, interactive learning experience. Students explore the neuroscience of laughter and why humor functions as a superpower for increasing bonds, creativity, and resilience on teams. The curriculum helps participants understand their unique humor style – what makes them laugh, how they make others laugh, and how to appropriately activate humor with colleagues. Through practical exercises, students learn to mine everyday moments for humor potential, apply professional comedic techniques, and develop a mindset that's ready to find joy in work interactions. As the first course in the three-part Remotely Humorous Program, it sets the foundation for showing up at work more authentically, effectively, and joyfully.
