Professor Mark H. Moore has shaped public management theory and practice through over four decades of service at Harvard Kennedy School of Government. As the Research Professor of Public Management and former Hauser Professor for Nonprofit Organizations, he has pioneered concepts like "public value" that have revolutionized how we think about government and social sector leadership. His academic journey began at Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude in Political Science and Economics, followed by an MPP and PhD from Harvard Kennedy School as part of its inaugural class. His career spans significant roles including chief planning officer at the Drug Enforcement Agency, founding Guggenheim Professor of Criminal Justice Policy and Management, and faculty appointments at Harvard Business School and Graduate School of Education. His influential works include "Creating Public Value: Strategic Management in Government" and forthcoming "Delivering Public Value: Operational Management in the Public Sector." Moore's current focus is on social innovation, leading the Social Innovation and Change Initiative and developing the "Sparking Social Change" course at Harvard Kennedy School. His contributions to public management theory, criminal justice policy, and social innovation have established him as one of the most influential scholars in public sector leadership and management.
