Veronica Olivotto is pursuing her PhD in Public and Urban Policy at the New School of New York, bringing her expertise as a researcher, consultant, and educator focused on urban climate change adaptation governance and the dynamics of urban risk, vulnerability, and resilience in informal settlements and broader urban environments. She has delivered high-profile climate change decision-making training for organizations including ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, Arcadis, and the Nederlandseorganisatie voor internationalisering in het hoger onderwijs (NUFFIC), while serving as a member of the Urban Climate Change Research Network (UCCRN) and coordinating author for the Housing and Informal Settlements chapter in the Second Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities. Her professional experience includes applied research projects with organizations such as GiZ, Cities Alliance, UN-HABITAT, UNCDF, and the European Commission, with field work spanning Latin America (Colombia and Peru), the Philippines, and the United Kingdom, supported by her academic background including degrees from Erasmus University Rotterdam (MSc), Edinburgh University (MSc), and the University of Milan (BA).

Shuaib Lwasa, an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, brings over 16 years of experience in university teaching and interdisciplinary research. His expertise spans multiple areas including climate change mitigation and urban adaptation, urban environmental management, spatial planning, disaster risk reduction, and urban sustainability. His published works cover diverse topics including cities and climate change adaptation, climate change health impacts, land and property rights, land use and landscape ecology, resource efficiency, and sustainable spatial planning. In addition to coordinating the Habitat University (UNI) climate change and disaster Hub, he serves on the Science steering committees of both the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) and the Urbanization and Global Environmental Change (UGEC) of Future Earth.
