This comprehensive course explores strategic litigation as a powerful tool for defending human rights in Latin America. Over four weeks, students will learn foundational concepts of human rights and public interest, and how strategic litigation can be effectively employed to protect them. The curriculum covers various litigation strategies and judicial activism techniques, with special emphasis on the role of universities through legal clinics and the contribution of pro bono legal work. The course examines practical applications across multiple domains including international law, environmental law, indigenous communities, and LGBTI rights.
