This course examines contemporary global political challenges and their historical context. It begins by analyzing the post-WWII international order and its transformation following the Soviet Union's collapse. Key topics include the multipolar system emergence, regional developments challenging world peace, Balkan conflicts leading to Yugoslavia's dissolution, China's rise and Russia's return as major powers, humanitarian interventions in Bosnia and Kosovo contrasted with non-intervention in Rwanda, the Arab Spring's democratic aspirations and subsequent rise of radical Islam, frozen conflicts like the Arab-Israeli dispute, and global challenges including climate change, pollution, pandemics, and refugee crises.
