This comprehensive capstone course allows students to synthesize and apply knowledge gained from previous maternal and child health courses to address contemporary challenges both nationally and globally. Learners will engage in problem-solving methodologies through four main focus areas: examining the health and well-being of adolescent girls through the Girl Rising case study, exploring the intersection between women's health and economic empowerment, identifying climate change issues affecting maternal and child populations, and analyzing black maternal health in the U.S. Through these practical applications, students will develop essential skills in creating evidence-based interventions, policy solutions, and programmatic approaches. The course culminates in developing a logic model for addressing maternal health disparities. This capstone provides a hands-on opportunity to demonstrate mastery of maternal and child health concepts and prepare for real-world application. Prerequisites include completion of all other courses in the GW MCH MicroMasters program.

Module Description
This capstone course integrates knowledge from previous courses in the Maternal and Child Health MicroMasters program, focusing on applying theoretical concepts to real-world challenges. The curriculum covers four main areas: examining adolescent girls' health globally through case studies, analyzing the relationship between women's health and economic empowerment, addressing climate change impacts on maternal and child populations, and developing evidence-based interventions for black maternal health in the United States. Students will learn to analyze population needs, identify strengths at individual and community levels, develop logic models for interventions, craft policy solutions, and communicate effectively through various formats including Op-Eds.
