A Distinguished Scholar in Agricultural Economics and Applied Microeconomics
Anil K. Giri is a prominent researcher and educator in agricultural economics, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Doane University. His academic journey began in the United States in 2007, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Agribusiness Management with a minor in business from Oregon State University. He then pursued graduate studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, obtaining an MS in agricultural economics with a minor in statistics. Dr. Giri's expertise spans applied microeconomics, agribusiness, and agricultural policy analysis. His doctoral research, supported by the prestigious NSF-funded Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT), focused on agricultural economics. During his PhD, he received specialized training in role simulation games for natural resource management and conflict resolution at renowned institutions in Europe, including IIASA in Vienna and CIRAD in France. His professional experience includes roles as an analyst for Smart Chicken and as a statistical analyst for Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services. Currently, Dr. Giri is a Research Agricultural Economist with the Economic Research Service (ERS) in the Farm Economy Branch of the Resource and Rural Economics Division at the USDA. His research at ERS focuses on various aspects of agricultural economics, including farm financial performance, government support programs, and the impacts of economic shocks on the agricultural sector.
