Pioneering Researcher in Quantum Networks and Communications

David Elkouss is a distinguished quantum scientist serving as a group leader at QuTech, Delft University of Technology, and Associate Professor at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology. His academic foundation includes dual master's degrees in electrical engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Telecom ParisTech, followed by a Ph.D. in computer science from UPM that earned him the extraordinary dissertation prize for his work on quantum key distribution. His career highlights include being part of the team that achieved the first loophole-free Bell experiment at TU Delft in 2015. Elkouss leads research focusing on developing crucial tools for quantum networks, including entanglement purification protocols, error-correcting codes, network protocol benchmarks, and quantum network simulators. His expertise spans quantum Shannon theory, quantum communications channels, and the fundamental limits of quantum information processing, contributing significantly to the advancement of quantum internet technology and networked quantum computation.

Pioneering Expert in Quantum Computing Architecture

Carmen G. Almudéver is a Distinguished Researcher at the Universitat Politècnica de València, following her role as Assistant Professor at TU Delft's Quantum and Computer Engineering Department until 2021. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, where she focused on "beyond-CMOS" technologies and earned an Intel Doctoral Student Honor Programme fellowship in 2012. Her research expertise centers on developing scalable quantum computer architectures, particularly the mapping of fault-tolerant quantum circuits onto different qubit topologies. As one of the Principal Investigators in the 10-year Intel-QuTech collaboration on quantum computing, she has made significant contributions to quantum programming languages, compilers, error correction, and fault-tolerant computation. Her work spans the entire quantum computing stack, from fundamental architecture design to practical implementation of quantum systems, establishing her as a leading figure in quantum computing research and development.
