A Distinguished Leader in Engineering Education and Multiphase Flow Research

Robert (Rob) Mudde serves as Vice Rector Magnificus/Vice President Education at TU Delft since March 2018, while holding positions as Professor of Multiphase Flow and Distinguished Professor of Science Education. His research focuses on multiphase flow reactors and transport phenomena, combining advanced experimental techniques using radiation with computational methods. With over 6,700 citations to his work, he has made significant contributions to understanding bubble columns, fluid dynamics, and reactor engineering. His 25-year teaching career includes pioneering work in Transport Phenomena education across multiple engineering disciplines. Since joining TU Delft in 1988, he has held various leadership positions, including interim chairman of the Imaging Physics department and Director of Education at the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

A Distinguished Educator in Chemical Engineering

Peter Hamersma served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at TU Delft until his retirement in 2020. His career was marked by significant contributions to chemical engineering education and research in multiphase flow systems. As program director for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering programs, he played a crucial role in developing innovative educational methods. His expertise in transport phenomena led him to co-teach advanced courses alongside Professor Robert Mudde, particularly focusing on mass transfer in static mixers and transport phenomena fundamentals.
