Introduction to Carbon Reduction and Net Zero

Anna Delgove Alday specializes in sustainable construction and green building certifications, with extensive expertise in innovative building materials and environmental certification processes. Her comprehensive knowledge covers sustainable materials including cork (renewable and thermally efficient), recycled steel (energy-efficient production), reclaimed wood (reducing deforestation), bamboo (rapid growth rate), hempcrete, rammed earth (low carbon footprint), and emerging materials like transparent wood (5 times stronger than glass) and biocomposite cement. In certification systems, she works extensively with BREEAM and LEED frameworks, guiding projects through complex certification processes. Her expertise in BREEAM certification involves managing the typical 3-6 month process through seven key steps: choosing the applicable plan, selecting an assessor, conducting pre-assessment, registration, preparing documentation, receiving certification, and GreenBookLive listing. For LEED certification, she helps projects achieve various benefits including tax incentives, operational cost savings (reported $1.2 billion in energy savings), improved tenant attraction (4% lower vacancy rates), enhanced indoor air quality, and reduced energy consumption (25% less energy, 34% lower CO2 emissions). Her approach emphasizes practical implementation of sustainable materials and certification requirements, helping projects achieve their environmental goals while maintaining economic viability
