Professor of Personalized Medicine at the University of Copenhagen
Sisse R. Ostrowski is a leading expert in personalized medicine and serves as a professor at the University of Copenhagen, where she is also the Head of Studies for the Master program in personalized medicine. With approximately 25 years of research experience in immunology and immune dysfunction, she is a board-certified specialist in clinical immunology and the Chief Physician at the Copenhagen Hospital Biobank Unit. Her research focuses on translational studies that leverage biobanks and large-scale genetic and biomarker analyses to advance personalized medicine. As head of one of Denmark's largest research biobanks, she oversees numerous collaborative projects with national and international researchers. Prof. Ostrowski is actively involved in clinical trials that utilize immunophenotyping to tailor treatments for patients with immune dysfunction. Additionally, she participates in various national and international research networks, advocating for education and training in personalized medicine. She teaches courses such as "Personalised Medicine from a Nordic Perspective," contributing to the development of future leaders in this field.
Professor of Precision Medicine at the University of Iceland
Saedis Saevarsdottir is a prominent professor in precision medicine at the University of Iceland, where she also leads the Master program in personalized medicine. She is a consultant in rheumatology at Landspitali University Hospital and a scientist at deCODE genetics. Previously, she served as an associate professor at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, where she was the chief rheumatologist and head of the Arthritis Unit. Dr. Saevarsdottir graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Iceland in 2001 and earned her PhD in immunology in 2005, focusing on complement deficiency in inflammatory diseases. Her research primarily investigates predictors of rheumatoid arthritis risk and outcomes, including genetic and environmental factors. Since 2018, she has led genome-wide studies on autoimmune diseases at deCODE genetics.
