Baseball Analytics Pioneer Andy Andres Bridges Science and Sports at Boston University
Andy Andres is a Senior Lecturer of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Boston University's College of General Studies, where he has taught introductory physics and biology for over 15 years. His expertise spans both academia and baseball analytics, having pioneered one of the first college courses in Sabermetrics at Tufts University in 2004. Andres has also served as the Lead Instructor and Head Coach of the MIT Science of Baseball Program. His contributions to baseball analysis earned him the 2012 SABR USA Today Sports Weekly Award for research on Tommy John surgery and pitch fx. Andres's practical experience includes working as a datacaster/stringer for mlb.com at Fenway Park, where he scored Game 6 of the 2013 World Series. With a Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry and Physiology from Tufts University, he brings a unique blend of scientific rigor and sports expertise to his work. Andres has also updated and edited the second edition of Art McGee's book on fantasy player valuation, further cementing his status as a respected figure in both academic and baseball circles.
